I can’t - and never have - been able to get my UEFI settings to recognise any linux version (currently using fedora ofc).
I started with windows installed, formatted an SSD, installed fedora on it. I set up a boot entry or whatever, which appears in efibootmgr:
nickelw@fedora:~$ efibootmgr
BootCurrent: 0001
Timeout: 0 seconds
BootOrder: 0000,0001
Boot0000* Windows EFI Boot Manager HD(1,GPT,6180f82c-cd52-4241-a5e9-58159e0e02e6,0x800,0x32000)/\efi\microsoft\boot\bootmgfw.efi57494e444f5753000100000088000000780000004200430044004f0042004a004500430054003d007b00390064006500610038003600320063002d0035006300640064002d0034006500370030002d0061006300630031002d006600330032006200330034003400640034003700390035007d00000031000100000010000000040000007fff0400
Boot0001* Fedora HD(1,GPT,500c4b8e-59c8-4cc9-a5eb-e6277112d7bd,0x800,0x12c000)/\EFI\fedora\shimx64.efi
but when booting into my UEFI settings (MSI), and looking in the boot section, the only option is “Windows boot manager” (and then the default stuff like “CD/DVD”, “Floppy disk”, whatever)
I’m not super familiar with linux so sorry if I’m being dumb lol
(I have looked at other support threads but nothing I’ve tried from anywhere has done anything at all.
- secure boot is disabled
- fast boot is disabled
- I have reinstalled GRUB
- I have regenerated the grub config file (regen is probably not the right word lol, hopefully you get what I mean)
PS: if I hit f11 on startup, fedora appears there, just not in my actual UEFI settings to I have no way of booting into fedora by default.
LMK of any more info that’s required
