I checked Gimp 3, went to File>Print
In the top right hand of the print dialogue, it has “preview” and “print”
“preview” opened a print view in Firefox (because it is my default PDF viewer) as file:///tmp/preview289Q32.pdf
Different, but a great way to preview a print file.
As shown the preview & print is not available to me. Can I ask are you also running an upto date Kinote 41 ???
No I’m on regular F41 with Gimp 3.
The print window is very different.
I get a whole screen covered in a print dialogue.
I did not know that Gimp would have different versions for Atomic and Regular. Do you use a Flatpak?
The window here is a third type!
What is under the ‘options’ button?
What happens when you print preview from another program, e.g. LibreOffice? Do you have the same dialogue window there?
I’m a GNOME user, but I’ve tested this on a Fedora KDE 41 VM with both the RPM and Flatpak versions of GIMP, and it seems that the Flatpak version opens a different print dialog. In the RPM version the Preview button is there, but not in the Flatpak version.
The Flatpak version accesses the printing portal, which opens a printing dialog similar to the ones used by native KDE apps (e.g. KWrite), whereas the RPM version seems to bring its own custom printing dialog.
Cheers folks.. Mike B you were spot on, RPM version does have it, how daft.
Problem sorted thank you
GTK3 provides the preview dialog, flatpak would use xdg-desktop-portal-gtk to provide it on gnome based systems.
If you were using Fedora Flatpaks, you might want to give the ones from Flathub a try.
Thanks, have layered via RPM and all sorted thank you
You might want to open a specific issue under the KDE xdg-desktop-portal for printing to support previews
