It Is Not Possible to Choose Landscape Orientation in the Print GNOME Dialogue Window

I cannot choose Landscape Orientation in the Print GNOME dialogue window. It works fine with some applications like Brave or Document Viewer, but for some other ones it is not possible in the GNOME system dialogue window.

See the attached screenshot below…

The specific app you’re referring to is for handwritten notes, so my take is it can’t handle conversions from portrait to landscape, hence the option in the Print dialog box is grayed out[1].

In order to be able to print landscape documents, you would need to change the format by navigating to Journal → Paper format. That would affect already edited pages though.

  1. The Flatpak version doesn’t gray it out, nevertheless prints as portrait a document using portrait format with landscape print option. ↩︎

I thank you for your comment, but I also noticed that Text Editor has the same problem for Landscape Print not possible to choose. I am using the installed version with Fedora 41, I haven’t tried a Flatpak version of Text Editor…

I can confirm your issue with GNOME Text Editor on Workstation. In Silverblue it’s working though.

So it seems that print dialog shipped with GTK3 has the issue, but the print dialog provided by XDG desktop portal for Flatpaks works ok.

Normally I would advise to raise an issue if not already existing, but I’ve also checked on a Rawhide installation and the issue doesn’t replicate, so it might be fixed in F42 as well.
