Double-clicking on an attachment just seems to do nothing. On regular Evolution, I am able to preview such PDF before I send off the email.
I’m seeing this as well with Evolution from flathub. It’s probably something related to Flatpak and how Evolution calls on another program to open images.
As it works from received messages (related issue), I’m guessing this was fixed only for those and not while composing.
I’ve opened an upstream issue @ Flatpak: g_app_info_launch_default_for_uri() silently fails for in-sandbox host files (#1196) · Issues · GNOME / evolution · GitLab as they’re handling some flatpak-related problems there too.

@garrett did anything ever come of this, please? I’ve just installed Evolution 3.46.1 on Fedora 37 and I can’t launch a PDF or see how I can assign helper applications for Evolution to use. Any help, much appreciated, thanks and all the best.
I experience the same issue with Kontact/Kmail flatpak installed on Fedora Kinoite 40.
When I click on a PDF, I get only:
This is a bug in Kontact. It should use the application chooser portal. Can you file this upstream? Thanks
