When I boot the computer (Fedora 33, Workstation, Wayland, Radeon Rx580) and not log in immediately and the screen goes blank, it never leaves that mode and I have to reboot. Highly annoying. It has been like this for several releases. Does anyone have an idea on what to do?
This is a community discussion form, and questions like this should usually be pointed at Ask.
On that note, I have filed a verysimilar bug with no activity yet. I know of no workaround, and agree that it is very annoying. I urge you to go into the “Problem Reporting” app, and see if you can generate a similar back trace by pressing the blue Report button on the issue in question. It will probably be in component kernel-core and when clicking on details the reason should look something like:
WARNING: CPU: 7 PID: 260 at drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/../display/amdgpu_dm/amdgpu_dm.c:1751 dm_suspend+0x178/0x190 [amdgpu] [amdgpu
Thanks @nickavem! I will go to Ask and check there as well and maybe ask as well. Regarding problem reporting, the challenge is that the nice blue “Report” button only reports issues that are shown in the list. As this blank screen issue is lets call it annoying, do you know how to get it to generate a report so the “app” automagically can report it? When it happens I use the old fashioned windows tactic of re-boot and then I do not find a crash report. Otherwise I will browse through the logs the next time it happens.
