Updated fedora 40 last night and can no longer log in

Hi,

Updated as normal last night and now when the login screen comes up everythjngnis frozen. I can still sign in and the screen will go black then go to log in but the system is stuck and I cannot do anything but press the power button to take the screen back to frozen login page. The mouse never moves.

As an added bonus I no longer have a ps2 keyboard thanks to my wife nagging “you have too many keyboards, why do you need them” so I took the old ones to the tip. I cannot access the boot or grub now so that’s awesome if awesome means shite!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS it’s a ryzen 5 with an nvidia card 1050 if I remember rightly so this is probably a Wayland issue.

Ta,
Paul

USB to PS/2 adapters are easier to hide than a whole keyboard.

Have you tried booting an older kernel?

Can you get a text console either with <Ctrl-Alt Fn3> or by adding a 3 to the end of the kernel arguments list in the grub2 menu?
