Yesterday I updated my Dell XPS 15 7590 laptop from Fedora 37 KDE spin to 38. I had my laptop with nothing connected on my desk and the upgrade went alright except for some nvidia driver problems, which I fixed by reinstalling the driver.
Today I plugged my laptop in my Dell WD22TB4 thunderbolt dock, and booted. It detected all my monitors and USB devices fine (I never had problems with thunderbolt docks) up until logging in. I had the login screen on all monitors, I typed in my password, and hit enter, and all my screens went black. No mouse, nothing. Even Ctrl+F* doesn’t work. When I press the power button, I see the systemd stopping messages and it shuts down gracefully. After a lot of testing, it seems Xorg has an error when logging in with USB input devices connected and the dock connected. Wayland works fine and has no problems.
When I try logging in with just the dock connected and no USB input devices, everything works fine. When I have an USB stick connected it also works. But even when I connected my mouse directly to my laptop (but the dock is still connected) it doesn’t work. And without the dock there is no problem. When I boot without my mouse and keyboard connected, login with the keyboard on my laptop, and plug everything back in it also works.
I already tried different mouse and keyboards, and deleting all the KDE configuration folders. But since Wayland works fine it looks like it’s an Xorg problem, and I’m not sure how to fix this.
The only real error I could find was in the Xorg.log, with the fatal error at the end:

Does anybody know what this problem might be? I booted a from a live USB stick, and logged out (because it logs in to Wayland by default) and logged in with X11 again, and everything works. So I’m not sure if it’s an actual bug or just a problem in my installation.
