Since this is a fun category and today is Friday, I’d challenge you to share your Fedora background picture. Let’s have some inspiration and fun.
I just use the Bing Wallpaper option within KDE Plasma. Today it happened to be penguins… how fitting!
I stick to Breeze Dark theme that come with KDE Plasma. It may be too dark for some, but there is no democracy on taste or look, right?
I managed to suppress my urge to tinker the desktop. Two virtual desktops are named ‘writing’, and ‘image editing’. As I use Kickoff launcher, I don’t have anything on the desktop.
I’m just using the default background right now, but in the past I’ve used this:
It’s based on a quote in a design blog. Someone who was unfamiliar with Red Hat as a company was discussing the new logo.
This is 2014 old low mid range Asus laptop. Running Fedora Kinoite. I have tried many distros. Only got better performance with Debian 11 plasma and Fedora Kinoite 37. So, sticking with it as long as possible.
One of the downsides of Gnome: desktop screenshots are nothing to write home about!
I like to change out my wallpaper for each month. This month I’m rocking a frame from what is probably a Studio Ghibli movie.
Nice idea @bogomil! I got a good chuckle from @bcotton’s “sometimes” wallpaper.
I rotate wallpapers once or twice a year. Since my work requires me to spend so much time on my Fedora laptop, I like to incorporate reminders or affirmations that mean something important to me. My latest affirmation is a visualization of the dharma wheel and the Eightfold Path.
Oh, and I am using i3.
Fedora 37 Mate. My computer is fairly powerful (i7 8th gen U + Nvidia MX150) but I replaced it with a newer one, so I use it for web browsing and youtube/movie/anime watching while in my bed (I have it in a small table by my bed). I limit it to 650MHz (which is absolutely more than enough to make MATE fly on this little one) and enjoy hours of battery life. It lasts more than a tablet, much more usable, better screen, better speakers, better everything!
The only thing I dislike from Fedora MATE is that it lacks the Ayatana indicators in the repos, so Ubuntu MATE looks better out of the box IMO.
Still, I prefer Fedora.
Have you played with libindicator-gtk3-tools
But does that provide the ayatana indicators?
One of the downsides of Gnome: desktop screenshots are nothing to write home about!
When I was using Gnome 2 I had a doc with a list of tweaks to remove everything from my desktop so it looks clean. So this feature in Gnome 3 was the least controversial for me.
I do like official Fedora wallpapers a lot, but I pick some older versions when I get bored with a current one.
That one, the Fedora 34 and the Fedora 33 ones are simply just a joy to use.
But, I’ll say one thing. I was using Ubuntu back when I was like 12 in 2006, and I remember trying a virtual Machine with Fedora. It was a stupid thing (I was a kid), but I got the impression, once I saw that wallpaper, that Fedora was simply the best thing out there. I found that one absolutely astonishing and fascinating.
Thank you very much for sharing it. It evoked really great memories
I love it! I’m pretty sure this was a Fedora 7 wallpaper.
it’s Friday again, so let’s see who has a great screen to share
For some reason, this background reminds me of Sonic Frontiers.
When I was drawing/modify I never think that but I wonder how did you find that “connection”
beautiful
