I’m using AMD Radeon RX 9070 and Fedora 41. I have low FPS in Quake II RTX.
How are you running it?
I’d start with trying it plainly as-possible from their latest tar.gz: https://github.com/NVIDIA/Q2RTX/releases/download/v1.7.0/q2rtx-1.7.0-linux.tar.gz
I’d also monitor GPU usage, and the power state it’s in or force it to high/max perf.
Have you played it in Windows before? even though I could play Cyberpunk and Doom Eternal with ray-tracing on - quake 2 rtx always ran like dog crap. It’s probably just as much to do with it’s terrible optimisation than a Linux Issue. The Night-dive revamp of Quake 2 runs buttery smooth at 144fps on fedora. However I own it and will test it.
I tried to test it but I just get a black screen. I can hear the sound of the menu so know it’s running but cannot get a picture. I’ll keep testing it out but the Nightdive remake is so good, RTX is just a “look at how pretty this is” thing for me.
