Hello everyone,
I am a new Fedora adopter, with the PC i just built. It seems to me that my GPU is recognized but not used, although I installed the nvidia akmod and cuda drivers with NPM fusion, signed them, and followed many troubleshooting guides. I’ll try to be as concise and precise I can so I made some lists :
What makes me think GPU is not recognized :
- no GPU mention in sensors or in GNOME Resources
- launched games natively compatible on Steam that takes more resources than just the CPU : it worked but 3 fps, and impossible to click anywhere without waiting 4 full minutes
- using youtube with both librewolf and firefox : sound ok but
- some glitches in my screen when I move the mouse, there are some mouse artifacts in its trace or some window artifacts when I move windows (Samsung TV 4k, no other displays issues than those visual glitches, full resolution display properly respected)
Actions that i already made :
- hardware checkup to see if everything is well connected
- three uninstall-reinstall of the drivers from NPMfusion
- tried to change to xorg instead of Wayland because some dude said so on a forum post tangentially linked to my issue. It made my screen black on reboot, hopefully I repaired it with ctrl alt f2 and nano
- tried to load the “nvidia-gpu-firmware” directly from Nvidia website, made some sort of corruption when installing the RPMfusion akmod drivers which made black screen when i rebooted, again edited with ctrl alt f2
- installed multimedia drivers as said in Fedora docs
Finally, results to some commands i see asked on forums :
