Printer is not working (Samsung SCX-4200, Fedora 37)

Hello everyone!

I have a very old Samsung SCX-4200 MFP. When I connect it using USB, it become visible in the settings’ “Printers” section, but when I try to print any page nothing happens. In the logs I catch next error message:

cupsd[1101]: [Client 56] Returning IPP client-error-document-format-not-supported for Print-Job (ipp://localhost:631/printers/SCX-4200-Series) from localhost.
cupsd[1101]: REQUEST localhost - - "POST /printers/SCX-4200-Series HTTP/1.1" 200 109224 Print-Job client-error-document-format-not-supported

I tried to add PDD file manually according to this tutorial, but got another error:

gnome-control-c[55009]: Error opening file /etc/cups/ppd/SCX-4200-Series.ppd: Permission denied
systemd[1]: fprintd.service: Deactivated successfully.

Also system always asks me a root password to configure a printer from settings GUI (not sure if it’s important). Previously I had an Ubuntu and this printer was working without any issues.

My setup: Fedora 37, Gnome.

I will be grateful for your help in solving this issue.

Did you give this a try?
