KDE Connect sms app does not work

I’m trying to send sms messages from KDE Connect sms app, but it seems they cannot be sent. The phone connects with my laptop, and i can see all past messages sent/received on the app, but i cannot send new sms messages typing them from my laptop. However, when i type the message on my phone, the message is sent as normal and it shows up instantly on the KDE connect app. The problem is i cannot send sms messages through KDE connect from my laptop.

I’m running Fedora KDE 42 and i have a Xiaomi Poco F6 Pro phone with Android 15. Default sms app on my phone is “Messages”

Any ideas on how to work around it? Thanks in advance.

Does the KDE Connect app on your phone have permissions both to send and to read SMS messages?

On my phone (Android 13) the same permission covers both, but I believe on Android 15, sending and reading are separate permissions, and you may need to go into “restricted settings” to grant the send permission.

It seems that KDE Connect is granted permission to send and receive sms messages…

Ah yes, that can’t be the problem then :slightly_frowning_face:

nsa hasn’t installed its backdoor in kde connect yet. wait for an update or just don’t ask them about it.

Users on Reddit report that allowing the kdeconnectd apps inbound access in the firewall works.

Those ports are reported to be 1714-1764, 500, and 4500 (tcp and udp, inbound, as well as all allowed outbound)
