It's possible to use thunderbird matrix chat to connect to fedora matrix?

Hello!, the thunderbird has the chat functionality that allow connecting to matrix servers, i tried a few times connect to the fedora servers but it didn’t work, there’s a way todo that?, thanks!

I have tried the Chat functionality and it was not so nice.

To reduce attack surface I disabled it too.

I would recommend Element Web in your Browser. Saves you the Electron issues, in Firefox you can pin the tab too.

Added element

yeah, i normaly use the browse element too, but i wanted to keep fedora related chat/email all in thunderbird so it’s easy to access and i can just close it and it closes all notifications

You would need to authenticate with the Fedora account. I’m not familiar with the method you are using, but if it can allow you to authenticate the account you should be good to go?

that’s the problem, when i try to connect thunderbird it can’t log in, and it’s probably because of fedora accounts, so i was asking if there’s a way to log in without fedora accounts or how to make thunderbird open the fedora account login page

edit: more specifically it says “Error: Server offers no compatible login flow”

I’m kind of interested here, So could you tell me what you are using and how you are trying to do this. I currently have Element, I assume you have a Thunderbird plugin?

nope, it’s native on thunderbird, just click in the chat icon and go to “new account”

So you’re telling me I can use Thunderbird for more than just an RSS reader and a Calendar?! :bulb:

I’ll give it a try here in a couple minutes.
