So I just installed Mobara 41 which is based on Fedora 41 on my late 2014 5K iMac. I have not installed any drivers of any kind. I don’t have access to an Ethernet cable either. Can someone supply me with a folder that contains all the drivers I should need? This is my first time using Linux so if you could also supply me with the commands I need to put in the terminal to install the drivers. Or just give me an application that installs all the drivers like how BootCamp does with Windows.
How does the monitor look/work, and is the WiFi working? Sometimes you need proprietary bits, and you generally get those from RPM Fusion.
Go here and check it out:
No, I don’t have Wi-Fi the monitor works and I have sound.
I think this is the package you need. It’s from RPM Fusion. Once you enable the RPM Fusion repositories, you should be able to install it with dnf:
I have a 2011 iMac 27-inch, and that has an Atheros WiFi card that works out of the box. Sorry about the Broadcom, which has been an issue for a long time.
I assume you meant Nobara.
If so then that is modified significantly from fedora and for support it is suggested that you go to their site for assistance. They make a lot of changes with installed packages, drivers, etc that are not the fedora default config.
Do I need to grant any permissions in the terminal?
You should not need to grant any permissions. If the driver is installed it should work.
You can search for your model in the LHDB. There you will be able to see the WiFi hardware details, and which drivers work for at least some linux distros.
