Hyprland as an alternative DE?

If I install Hyprland on my fedora 40 workstation laptop,
does this mean that when I turn it on
I’ll have to choose between gnome or hyprland?

If you choose to install it on gnome or kde example if you install workstation you have gnome also installed and then hyprland as secondary

Or

You can choose Fedora everything and choose Fedora minimal installation and then install Hyprland and what else you need and you have only those

If you install the hyprland package on Workstation it will be added as an extra login option, so you can choose between Gnome and Hyprland from GDM at the login screen.

Be advised that Hyprland is only a window manager, not a full desktop environment. So you will have to manually install additional DE components such as toolbars, menus etc.
