How to start KDE Plasma with XWayland disabled?

Doing so may increase security, reduce RAM usage etc.

You can view all running applications using X11/XWayland with the tool xlsclients.

KDE Plasma starts quite a few processes, among them are XWayland and XWaylandVideoBridge.

I already started to look at the mess of all these services autostarting, then people told me these xdg-autostart services generate systemd-user services.

So… How to disable all that bloat?

  • accessibility
  • strange legacy services
  • virtual-machine client specific things
  • xwayland, xwaylandvideobridge
  • geoclue2

Plasma could become slimmer without them

And less functional. I for example need the X11 support.

It is only bloat if you do not need it, this is not an absolue.

I do agree that being able to control optional services is a good idea.
