So i got a new headset and it works very well on my phone and on a windows os (both output and mic input) but on my fedora linux the mic doesn’t pic anything and i see the headset in the input section. I’ve updated my system and that didn’t work
Hey, welcome to Fedora!
Are you new to Linux in general?
Updating the system doesnt do anything flexibly. On Windows it may detect missing drivers and install them, on Linux they are all already there.
The mic is showing up but no input comes through.
Could you give some more info on what this is? How is it connected, USB, Bluetooth, headphone jack?
What PC are you using, if it is connected over the headphone jack, does it work with other microphones?
Added microphone, pipewire, workstation
hello yh i’d say im fairly new, its connected through bluetooth
Added bluetooth, bluetooth-headset
I think that this is the same problem that I’m facing. Even the mic of my new bluetooth headset is not working: Headphone microphone not working (jack) - #8 by hankuoffroad.
I’m guessing that this is related to the Realtek ALC245. There are some projets that offer kernel patches for HP (GitHub - Jerryxia32/envy_x360_fix: Linux kernel fixes for Envy x360 13" 2022 (13-bf0xxx)) but I didn’t find a generic way for now.
