I did a reinstall. And this time it booted after the installation. I then installed updates and rebooted only to get stuck at a black screen again.
Not very impressed by Fedora so far
Do you get the GRUB menu? If you can, set the boot flags to show boot messages, instead of the splash screen (assuming it gets to grub).
If you get stuck after updates that would suggest either firmware or a driver causing issues, a verbose boot should show what actually blocks the boot (as would the logs)
I removed rhgb quiet and I can see the boot process. But att the end it switches to a black screen and I cant do anything
Same thing no matter what kernel 6.12 or 6.11) I try to boot or if I boot into rescue mode
Try typing Ctrl-Alt-F3 to get to a login prompt. If that works we can help debug why you do not see a desktop.
Not possible to change to an other login promt. No key presses work. Only ctrl-alt-del
Try using the grub editor to remove the “rhgb quiet” from the kernel command line so you can see error messages. If that fails, boot the live environment, install the inxi package, run “inxi -Fzxx” in a terminal, and post the output as pre-formatted text (use the “</>” button from the top line of the text entry panel).
As I wrote before I have already removed “rhgb quiet” but it still goes to the black screen. All boot text scrolls by so fast so cant see if there are any errors
From what you share the hang could occur once the GUI (gdm, gnome) starts, to rule that out you can configure the grub command line to start in run level 3, which would post-boot drop you in a console, not the full GUI. That at least allows you to rule out gdm/gnome as a cause.
From console you can then review the logs, save them etc. How to boot to Level 3 ?
