Fluctuating brightness

Hey there,

I have had a bit of a search around for this issue, and haven’t found anything that addresses this issue recently.

I’ve just installed Fedora 41 6.12.11 on my system and have an issue with the brightness slowly fluctuating on only one of two my monitors.

Previously I was using Ubuntu and didn’t have any issues. I don’t think the cable is bad as it works fine with my Mac.

I’ve noticed if I change the refresh rate, the issue speeds up/slows down.

System:
CPU: Intel 13th gen i7 13700K
GPU: AMD 7950XTX

Things I have tried:

  1. Turn off freesync
  2. Add “i915.enable_psr=0 amdgpu.dc=1” to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX
  3. Change refresh rate

As far as I can tell, the amdgpu drivers are successfully installed.

I noticed the same thing after a recent update. Are you using Gnome? In that case you may be able to prevent it by disabling auto-brightness in the settings:

Hey, thanks, yeah using Gnome.

I don’t have the auto screen brightness option, I assume I wouldn’t as I am on a desktop?
