Brithness Fluctuations in Fedora silverblue 43

Hello,
am having some weird brightness problem in fedora 43 silverblue after the updates, from f42.
Here’s the following things i noticed:

  • Sometimes even when i put the brightness on full capacity, it’s not the real one.
  • It adds or lessens the brightness randomly (at least i did not notice a pattern yet, working on that)
  • It happens with or without the second monitor attached via HDMI.
  • It, to my current observation isn’t related to charger being attached or not, or battery percentage.

Could you please explain in more detail on what device this behavior is observed? Also, is it related to Fedora Silverblue, i.e. have you tried whether Fedora Workstation behaves similarly on the same device?

Hello,
I did not try on fedora Workstation, i currently can’t given my usage of the device.
As for the device:

Hardware Information:

  • Hardware Model: Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 3
  • Memory: 16.0 GiB
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen™ 5 5500U with Radeon™ Graphics × 12
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon™ Graphics
  • Disk Capacity: 2.0 TB

Software Information:

  • Firmware Version: R1OET32W (1.11 )
  • OS Name: Fedora Linux 43.20251205.0 (Silverblue)
  • OS Type: 64-bit
  • GNOME Version: 49
  • Windowing System: Wayland
  • Kernel Version: Linux 6.17.9-300.fc43.x86_64

You can easily try out Fedora Workstation by booting the Live ISO from a USB flash drive.

i tried and stayed in it for a couple of hours, without any issues.

However i do have the same experience in silverblue, sometimes it happens just on the boot, others after hours.
So i don’t really know the cause of the problem, hopefully it will get fixed with some updates?

Just to correctly close this thread,
After some trials and errors, i discovered (and i think it’s correct since i don’t have the issue anymore) that the problem was in the Power saving mode, that i was activating and it had the machine do all these weird behaviors.
