Hi all, I recently went to a local in-person meetup for documentation writers in London, hosted by lovely organizers of the Write the Docs. I got to know WTD, thanks to CommBlog and @mattdm and @jflory7.
The Write the Docs (WTD) London is one of the WTD’s regional meetup groups. The London groupt has 679 members (3 in leadership team) and I’m among them. I joined it in 2023.
The WTD London meetup revived after years of slumber due to the COVID (cough, cough).
Write the Docs London started off for an evening dedicated to docs-as-code in May.
Vladimir Izmalkov, a senior technical writer and software engineer, from TypeDB, which is highly expressive database paradigm in NoSQL databases, gave a lightning talk about Docs-as-code in theory and in practice. 30 documentarians attended the workshop on a Thursday evening in a vibrant part of London. TypeDB uses AsciiDoc for their documentation site.
Before the talks start, attendees had a chance to chat with organizers and presenters. Even after the event is finished for the day, many of us didn’t feel like rushing home.
My first impression is I love to connect the dots between on-line community of FOSS projects and professional tech writers in a local area. I love to contribute to the local community and take best practices back to the Fedora Project (and vice versa).
