Fedora not powering my audiointerface

Hi!
I just moved to Fedora and noticed it doesn’t activate my Rode AI-1 audiointerface, I have to manually unplug it and replug it to get it working again.
If there’s any data you want to see just let me know how to do it and I’ll be glad to do it

Welcome to Fedora @meekox

  1. First of all check if the firmware is up to date: RØDE Central | RØDE Companion App | RØDE

  2. Second would be good to know what exactly you have to reconnect? Checking the device I see that there are several connectors. If you talk about the USB-C connection, do you use a docking station to connect it (does the docking-station have also newest firmware)?

When exactly do you have to reconnect, after a new reboot or if you let your computer run a while and coming back and like to work with it? If the second is the case, it could be that the device not gets out of the suspend/power-save mode and is invisible for the system.

When you do not can use your device check with lsusb if it is listed. Re checking with the same command after a reconnect could confirm an absence of the device.

inxi -Fzxx also gives you more information about your system.

Hi!

As far as I’m aware there isn’t a linux based firmware to this interface.
I’m using a cable that is Usb-c to a normal usb, and it is going directly into my pc.

Also I’m sorry for being unclear, when i boot up my computer the interface won’t get power so I have to unplug and reconnect it.
After doing the command I found out it does recognize the audiointerface but still doesn’t get any power to it.

Have you verified if you use the normal usb on a USB3 at least. This you can do also with lsusb or better usb-devices

With powertop you can see some specific values of power consumption of your audio interface. You have to install it.

Have you tried the Android RODE Companion App? I posted the link above.

You can also check if your audio interface can get some updates with:
sudo fwupdmgr get-devices #check devices
sudo fwupdmgr get-updates #check for update

This way you also see if you are missing some firmware upgrade from your computer in general.

In my previous message I sent what lsusb gave me, I’m assuming it is not usb3 compatible slot.
Powertop didn’t give any reading on the audio interface.

I didn’t know you can install android apps on linux, I have to look into that and figure out how to get it to work.

sudo fwupdmgr get-updates

Gave no new updates unfortunately.

That is not what I said. I mentioned beside windows and mac you can install an app on an android device and see if you can upgrade the firmware of your audio interface. This upgrade would be important if the device is not compatible with newer kernels.

So, did you check with an usb3 slot if it works? USB3 has more power. If you can not see what your computers usb is, try all usb plugs available.
