Forcing the status of the audio jacks in Fedora?

Hello everyone,

I’m trying to force the status of the microphone audio jacks to “plugged”. Hardware wise: it’s a rather old PC and the case front audio connectors don’t send all the signals to the mother board audio connector, only audio and ground. So signal comes in fine, I can record via Audacity but any Chrome/Electron based app will simply refuse to acknowledge that there is a microphone since all connectors show “unplugged”. I already tried changing all occurrences of state.plugged and state.unplugged for the mic jacks in /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/*.conf but no luck: the input sources still read “unplugged” in pulseaudio status bar plugin.

Any ideas?
