Fedora 39 no network connection on boot

Fedora 39, Workstation, Wired Network. i5 Intel Processor . Asus motherboard with built in Ethernet 1 GB/s
The router us a D link model and is connected to one other linux computer (runs Fedora 38 ) which connects to the network with no issue.

Just recently connecting to the wired network on boot has stopped. Not sure if this was associated with any particular action. When this happened a week ago I did;

sudo systemctl restart Networkmanager

Sudo fixfiles onboot

Rebooted and all worked fine. Have turned computer off at night via “shutdown”, removing the AC power on a time switch. Rebooting in the morning after the AC power is back on.
All worked with out any issue until today.

Today the wired network will not start on boot. If I issue the systemctl restart command as above I notice that the network icon changes from “?” to “…” and then back to the “?” and get NO connection to the network. The log file associated with this command is below.

Have tried

sudo fixfiles on boot

and reboot.

Still can not connect to the network.
Any ideas please.

I am not familiar with the subjectmatter but can you post
sudo systemctl status NetworkManager after a cold boot

and maybe lspci -vvnn | grep Network for your network controller

Do you use the linux “man 8 shutdown” command or menu button before power is removed or did you mean the switch removes power from a “running” system? The latter risks damage to filesystems. Switching power off at night may require more frequent replacement of the CMOS backup battery.

Monitor DHCP client activity has some examples showing how to gather details of DHCP problems.

Hello @smithy-77 ,
Can you post the output of nmcli from a terminal? This will at least tell you what Network Manager understands about your interface(s).

You could configure the computer to shutdown gracefully at a time of day without needing the ungracefully power timer switch.

Thanks for the info. Running sudo systemctl status NetworkManager as suggested by john showed there was a DNS issue. reset the DNS in the network set up and all now works fine.
See how it goes over time. Have no idea as to how the DNS in the settings got messed up.

The computer is always shut down either manually via the “power off” or via an automatic shut down script prior to the time the auto timer is set to . This prior to any switching off of the AC power by an auto timer. As I have only every replaced the computer internal battery once a number of years ago, before I started to use the Auto timer. So far I have not had another issue in this regard.
