I am writing to provide feedback and report extension compatibility issues encountered right after updating to the recently released Fedora 45 Beta. [1]
My clean installation is running the new GNOME 51 desktop environment. Since the transition, two critical extensions I use daily—Clipboard History and Dash to Dock—have completely stopped working due to structural API modifications in the underlying upstream GNOME Shell packages. [1]
Below are the exact terminal logs and error strings:
1. Clipboard History Extension Error
Stack Trace / Error:Error: No property vertical on StBoxLayout
Impact: The extension fails to load on the top bar entirely because StBoxLayout configuration attributes changed in GNOME 51.
2. Dash to Dock Extension Error
Stack Trace / Error:ImportError: Unable to load file from: resource:///org/gnome/shell/ui/pointerWatcher.js (The resource at “/org/gnome/shell/ui/pointerWatcher.js” does not exist)
Impact: The pointerWatcher.js module was dropped/restructured in GNOME 51. This missing resource prevents Dash to Dock from initializing entirely on boot.
As Laurie said, this is not something on Fedora’s side to fix. You need to contact the people who made the extensions and they should update them and get it working. In fact I am sure they are already working on it.
yah yahan ke liye nahin hai. yahan koi bhi aapki madad nahin kar sakta. in samasyaon ki report har kharab extension ke sambandhit developers ko karen, taki ve upstream GNOME ke sath taalmel bithane ke liye sudhar kar saken.
As you can see Gnome got restructured and even dropped some code. So it is definitionally up to the developer to fix that:
### Bug Reporting
If you experienced a bug please report it by opening an [issue on github](https://github.com/micheleg/dash-to-dock/issues). You can also send a bug report message in the [extension website](https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/307/dash-to-dock). Your help is very appreciated.
Please provide as many details as possible and all the steps to reproduce the bug. Include the following information:
* Extension version
* Gnome Shell version
* Linux distribution and version
* Whether you have a multi-monitor configuration
* Your settings: include the output of the command `dconf dump /org/gnome/shell/extensions/dash-to-dock/`.
Before reporting a bug:
* Check if the bug persists disabling all other extensions. If not, try to find the conflicting extension by enabling each extension one at a time.
* Check if there are any relevant errors in Looking Glass (`ALt-F2 lg`, error panel).
* Look for error messages in the logs. Possible place to look for the relevant logs depend on the system log configuration:
* Runnning `journalctl /usr/bin/gnome-session `or `journalctl /usr/bin/gnome-shell`. This might require to be run as root/with sudo. You can add `-f`, for instance `journalctl /usr/bin/gnome-shell -f`, to follow the new messages.
* In the file `~/.xsession-errors`.
* In the file `~/var/log/syslog `.
* Reloading the shell by typing in a terminal (as normal user) `gnome-shell --replace` and looking for relevant output in that terminal when the bug appears. Please note that if running on Wayland this will close your session and all running applications.
* Try to reset the extension settings to their default values with the command `dconf reset /org/gnome/shell/extensions/dash-to-dock/`

sorry, google detected it this way. If the OP wants to talk in his language it would be best to use the specific category for that (Ask Fedora > Ask in Other Languages)
Hmm… Is there a straightforward way to block myself from “Ask Fedora” category posts that don’t include tags I’m specifically interested in, or do I need to rely on self-discipline for that?
Not to worry, changed some settings in Preferences, Tracking … that might help
You can use this website to check if there is an extension version for the version of Gnome you’re using. Since F45 uses Gnome 51, check for version 51. If there is one, update to it.
For instance, Dash To Dock has a version for 50 but not 51.
Sometimes old extension versions may work, but they’re much more likely to work if there is a supported version for the version of Gnome you’re using.
