Bluetooth Headphones with Mic not available as input device, only output

I am attempting to use my Bose QuietComfort II’s or really any Bluetooth headset with a microphone on it with my Fedora 30 KDE Spin installation. I can get the headsets to connect and play audio, but KDE doesn’t seem to be able to use the microphone on the headset. What do I need to do to get it to work?

It would seem that I have to select a different mode for my Bose QuietComfort 35II or QC 35II headphones. The A2DP Sink is the one way high definition audio, however, there’s a second profile. I needed to click on Profile for my headphones, then select Headset Head Unit (HSP/HFP). This then allowed me to use my Bose headphones’ microphone. However, the audio is terribly tinny and the headset consistenly tells me that there’s a call from no one and then keeps going. It makes the audio sound like doodoo until I switch back to A2DP Sink.

The Bose QC 35II microphone problem is just something that is a problem with Bose QuietComfort 35II headphones in general with all devices I hook into. Its just annoying.

I have the 4ft Bose audio cable that you can get for them and it works super well, but that’s because my laptop’s headphones port has the mic built-in to it and then it just uses the inline mic and not the built in mic to the headphones. Bose problems.
