Anybody Getting KDE Connect to Work Lately?

I have files “trapped” in the Files app on my iPhone and KDE Connect seems to be the only way to get them off there. Fedora 42 on the Fedora side and ios 18.5 on the iPhone 11 side. Is this combo supposed to work?

I can pair the devices, but they disconnect after anywhere between 5 and 30 seconds and I am unable to reconnect them without forgetting the devices on each end and re-pairing. I did manage to get a file transfer started one time and the transfer appeared to work, but the file wasn’t actually transferred.

Ping also works, until the devices disconnect.

Bluetooth file transfer doesn’t seem to be supported anymore.

Any ideas? Any other apps that can get files out of the iPhone to a Fedora host?

UPDATE: A couple of better options:

  • The IOS Files app can send files to a SMB protocol server
  • You can send files to Google Drive, etc.
  • You have to select the files one a time on the phone, there is no “Select All”, which is stupid.

KDE connect works for me from android and iPad to Fedora 42.

I did hit an issue a while ago that stopped kde connect working,
I had a “.” In the name I setup. Changing that to a “-“ fixed it.

I’m experiencing problems as well, though I suspect it comes from the iOS-App. As soon as the app goes to background (e.g. when I switch apps for a moment), the app has no device connection anymore. Restarting the app doesn’t help. The only thing that works is re-pairing. Kinda annoying
(P.S. I have no dots or dashes in my desktops share name)

I know this doesn’t solve the immediate issue of difficulty with KDE Connect, but if the short term goal is to get those files off your iPhone, you might check out LocalSend. It’s a closs platform FOSS file transfer service. Think AirDrop, but it works on everything.
