Can it be that you made the mouse setup, that you get the focus on windows when you hover with the mouse over it?
No, that setting is switched off.
Also, this would not explain layout switcher pop-up stealing the focus of the window and then not returning it back.
Are you talking about this extension? If yes it can be that the error is caused because of the extension it selves.
Then you would have to look with the developer of the extension. They are not really supported by gnome it selves.
I am not using any extensions for changing keyboard layouts. So, unfortunately, that is not a problem. Also, there is one more bug now. When my screen locks, I can not unlock it even via loginctl and then if I restart Xorg, it becomes impossible to do anything.
Did figure out solution for flickering i have rtx 3060 ti and have the same problem
Sorry for not replying here in the meantime. I use my PC and laptop to work and not just for my hobby, so it was clear to me pretty quickly that I switch back to Windows. I have not filled out a bug report, because I have found not much to my described error and simply assumed that it is possibly on me… I just don’t have the time to check and document everything accordingly, so I can fill out a useful bug report.
Xorg would have worked, but felt pretty laggy, so that wasn’t an option either
I will install Fedora again (version 37 / 38) and see if this bug still occurs or has already been fixed
I have a 3060 Ti with the latest nvidia drivers and facing what I think is the same (or similar) issue. I’m on Fedora 38 Wayland.
Apps I’ve had issues with:
- Thunderbird (though installing Thunderbird-Wayland using dnf and running that does not present any issues – at least thus far; this also seems to corroborate what OP said)
- VS Codium (typing text is somewhat laggy; there were also flickering menus when I used the flatpak version, not sure if they are present on the .rpm version)
- Cryptomator (some menus and popups appear completely black and/or flicker)
- Zotero (laggy navigation and PDF reading)
Could be other ones that I’m missing.
