Why does Fedora give me this message for Performance mode?

It’s been like this since using Fedora for a while now. And my battery temperatures are never high and my temperatures are always in the 40c’s or 50c’s.

How are you checking temps? Maybe try lm_sensors?

Sometimes, CPUs may transiently hit higher temperatures, and that could be something these profiles are now looking at. So first thing would be to monitor your CPU temperatures at different times, not just their averages.

I use lm_sensors and s-tui, i researched and a few others have this issue. I don’t need any additional help, I’ll be leaving Fedora today.

May be it related to thermald service that trying to keep the cpu skin temp under 45C for certain devices.

Source: Github - Thermal daemon on line 220-221.

In this example Lenovo Thinkpad X220 and fan speed is controlled. Here a cooling device “_Fan”, can be controlled via sysfs /sys/devices/platform/thinkpad_hwmon/pwm1. When the x86_pkg_temp reaches 45C, Fan is started with increasing speeds, if the temperature can’t be controlled at 45C.
