I have received a few marketing emails from Lenovo using my FAS account email contact and my FAS id mentioned in the email. I don’t remember consenting to Lenovo getting my contact info for this purpose, or any third party for profit for that matter. Can someone (possibly @mattdm ) suggest when and where I agreed to this?
Hmmm — we didn’t give that to them, I can promise that at least.
Did you possibly use it to sign in to their Linux sales portal (to get the discount)? There may have been something there. (Or maybe sign into their forum?)
No, but I am a customer past, so my name is registered with them (different email). I did check out the “deals” when the first article about them appeared in Fed Mag, but I didn’t fill out any sign-up stuff, just browsed the offerings. So I am at a loss, hence my question. The emails began appearing in July, with the most recent today. Would you like to see a copy, I don’t mind sharing? It states it’s " Members Discount Program
through Linux CA Community"
Maybe post the mail here? Please include the full headers so we see where it’s coming from.
When the Lenovo “portal” first existed, you needed to provide a fedoraproject.org email to sign in – you couldn’t browse without that. But I don’t remember any email from them (or a checkbox to opt either way on marketing messages to that address).
Okay, it is being sent to my email that is used for my FASID …

That’s the header, and it does seem to be legit, at least to me.
Okay, that makes sense, the email is sent to my fedoraproject.org email.
