I tried installing Silverblue on my optimus laptop (AMD + Nvidia) but after a successful installation GDM crashes and first log-in fails.
I have no problem with Workstation and don’t need Nvidia proprietary drivers, but I don’t understand why this shouldn’t work and if there’s a workaround?
I simply followed the default installation with automatic partitioning.
Also I never had the chance to install any extra packages since I was never able to log in.
I know getting any amount of logs will help significantly but currently I need this machine and since all these happen after complete installation I can’t provide logs ATM.
So you installed the system with the Anaconda installer, rebooted and then could not log in?
Or did you go through the second setup dialog in the GNOME look, and install NVIDIA drivers there?
I dont use Silverblue or NVIDIA so I am not sure if that dialog allows to install drivers at all.
Normally you would install a system with the opensource nouveau drivers, and manually change them afterwards
Make a ostree backup sudo ostree admin pin 0
Add rpmfusion repo
Install the packages, modify the kernel
Change some values
Reboot
As you say you need this system now, I recommend to install Bluefin instead. It is based on Fedora Silverblue but has images with immediate NVIDIA support.
