Here’s what is happening: Watch Screencast_20260507_201445 | Streamable
All I know is that it doesn’t happen for a new user I created. I’ve tried a bunch of shenanigans suggested by claude ai, but although it worked before I upgraded to Fedira 44, it doesn’t work now. What I did before was actually disabling the qt6-virtualkeyboard package to stop it from flashing in my login screen (and preventing me from logging in). Now I can log in, but it still flashes everywhere. I had to re-enable the package for upgrading to F44.
It’s weird that it seems that it’s actually plasma-keyboard that is flashing, which I believe is a different package to qt6-virtualkeyboard(?)
Forgot to say that I am running KDE if it wasn’t clear from the video.
When activating ibus wayland, I get a little panel icon that, when clicked, triggers a “on screen keyboard activated/deactivated” overlay. However, the behaviour is the same, regardless.
I believe that plasma-keyboard is the virtual keyboard that is of concern. There are several topics here that can be found with a search for that item which are related.
Thanks. I read a bunch but none of them helped.
This bug seems related:
