How to enable virtual keyboard on login screen (KDE Plasma)?

Hi,

I want to login to Fedora 41 using my mouse only. By default, there is no virtual keyboard option on the login screen. Can you enable it?

I tried creating the /etc/sddm.conf.d/virtualkbd.conf config file and added

[General]
InputMethod=qt6-qtvirtualkeyboard

but it does not work.

Did you install the qt6-qtvirtualkeyboard software?

Yes, I believe it’s actually part of the default Fedora installation

If you read man sddm.conf it uses a different spelling for the plugin.

InputMethod=
              Set the Qt input method for the greeter. Tablet users with Qt
              Virtual Keyboard installed can set this to "qtvirtualkeyboard"
              for the on-screen keyboard. Other known values are "ibus" for
              the Intelligent Input Bus, or "compose" for dead keys support.
              Leave this empty if unsure.

Tried with

qtvirtualkeyboard

instead but still not working.

There is also another config file where you can set the input in /usr/lib/sddm/sddm.conf.d/plasma-wayland.conf, not sure if I should touch it tho

[General]
DisplayServer=wayland
GreeterEnvironment=QT_WAYLAND_SHELL_INTEGRATION=layer-shell
InputMethod=

[Wayland]
CompositorCommand=kwin_wayland --no-global-shortcuts --no-lockscreen --inputmethod maliit-keyboard --locale1
