Just tried adding x-initrd.attach to /etc/crypttab and saved, confirmed by checking contents with cat after saving and closing. Then changed default kernel to 6.7.11 and tried rebooting couple of times, the issue still persists.
I can see the message âPowering offâ when shutdown by pressing [Esc], but again the system is stuck.
Currently Iâve reverted all changes and kept 6.7.10 as default.
Can confirm the same issue where the system hangs at the fedora logo when rebooting, with 6.7.11-200 on a self built MSI x570/5900x/6900xt based system. I managed to skip installing 6.7.10 so Iâve rolled back to .9 and all is good for now. Just want to point out that this is not likely related to a brand or form factor.
Also I couldnât shutdown/reboot, at least I didnât wait because I took too much (almost a minute waiting). I just rebooted (forced shutdown) to the previous image and now Iâll exclude the kernel to be able to update the system without getting the new kernel (I donât know how to do it in Silverblue, if anyone knows please help)
Same problem on a freshly installed Ultramarine Linux (F39).
As soon as the kernel updates from 6.5 to 6.7.11-200.fc39.x86_64 the system starts to hang on each reboot / shutdown.
This is happening on a brandnew Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 4.
I know that this maybe just a temporary thing but it worked for me (I also have a Dell laptop) and encountered the same issue that after kernel update I couldnât properly restart or shut down my notebook anymore (just via hard button shut/restart). To avoid picking up restart after restart older kernel (everyone simply should have few to pick) I have set an older kernel version permanently as a default to pick and followed the instructions in this link:
I hope this will also help some of you until this thread wonât be fixed.
Hi Folks: tonightâs/todayâs kernel update to 6.8.4-200.fc39.x86_64 seems to have fixed the issue on my Thinkpad T1 G6.
(Is there an off chance that the sleep/poweroff issue is related to a separate lockscreen problem --KDE/Wayland â requiring the use of loginctl in a root shell to recover? If so, might you point me to the relevant thread?)
in my case, it can be confirmed
after updating the new latest kernel 6.8.4-200.fc39.x86_64 from the update repository
problems related to reboot, shutdown and suspend can be resolved
Likewise, problems with USB detection and power management can be resolved too
Linux dell-5480 6.8.4-200.fc39.x86_64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Thu Apr 4 20:45:21 UTC 2024 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I am still facing this issue since kernel 6.7. Reboot,Shutdown or sleep hungs. On kernel 6.6 this issue was not present. Any info you need from me so I can help, please tell me.
Fedora 39 with latest kernel 6.8.4-200.fc39.x86_64 on DELL XPS 13 9320 using LUKS.
Hello @apollotonkosmo ,
Welcome to !
I would suggest that your issue may be different enough, since the latest kernel update didnât solve it for you, that it deserves a topic of itâs own in ask.fp.o. Could you possibly make your comment a new topic in ask?
