The entire system crashes when using the seekbar of an YouTube video in Firefox

If it is getting worse, I would tend to think it is failing or overheating hardware. You might want to check your PC’s ventilation.

Just want to chime in here to say it’s probably not a Fedora or Intel specific issue.
I’ve got the same issue on Ubuntu GNOME 24.04.1 with an AMD 8845HS chip, but when searching for the issue I got to this Fedora forum topic that seems to be related to mine.
When using the seek bar on YouTube in Brave browser, after skipping back/forth a few minutes at some point it seems to freeze up the entire OS and I can’t get it back to normal.

All I found was the same sort of interrupts like @ananas-comosus mentioned, and a kworker process eating up 97% of CPU the entire time the system is locking up. If it’s not too far gone yet I can still, with some effort, move the mouse and close the browser and open the terminal to do a bit of debugging.
The only thing that helps is a reboot.

Seeing that there’s a bunch more related topics on this forum that have the same YouTube video crashing issue, perhaps the issue is more widespread?
