Strange Gray Rectangle in Top Left Corner

Hey, everyone…

As of this morning, I’m experiencing a strange visual artifact on the GNOME desktop that only goes away when I “show desktop” or am in overlay.

As you can see from the pics, if I minimize my windows or have a non-maximized window open, there is a gray rectangle that appears in the top-left corner of the desktop that goes away once I enter overlay. It only appears on workplace one, too.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction… It’s weird that mine is gray, not white, and that it didn’t happen immediately when I upgraded from 39 to 40 but took a while.

Problem solved.

Dear Bryan, could you please be so kind and make a comment under 2277867 – After booting the updated Fedora 39 to 40 Workstation, a white rectangle in the top left corner of the desktop appears. and under After upgrading f39 to f40 a white rectangle in the top left corner of the desktop appers (xwaylandvideobridge) so the responsible could see, that I’m not the only one with this problem?
