I installed steam following these instructions:
After logging in the steam window shows up black, stays there a moment and disappears, comes back after a few seconds and disappears again only to loop that behavior.
As of now I’m using flatpak but that gives me problems with a game and I would rather keep it installed through dnf.
Is there something I can do?
The Steam rpmfusion version is working for myself and many other people.
I suspect the issue maybe something to do with your specific system. Please post the output of inxi -Fzxx
as preformatted rext, using the </>
button so we can look for clues.

It works fine on my laptop too so I’m not suspecting the issue is on the package itself, but here’s the output:

You have the same GPU class that I use.
Try starting steam from a terminal so that you can see any messages printed by steam.
Another thought, check the power setting and see if it is set to performance.

Funny thing: The problem does NOT present itself launching it from terminal.
However, starting a terminal each time to launch steam sounds a little annoying, do you wager there’s a workaround?

I’m not the smartest but if I get it right I should remove these
PrefersNonDefaultGPU=true
X-KDE-RunOnDiscreteGpu=true
from the desktop file?
Yes, create a new launcher
cp /usr/share/applications/steam.desktop ~/.local/share/applications/
and edit ~/.local/share/applications/steam.desktop file instead with this command
sed -i '/PrefersNonDefaultGPU=true/d; /X-KDE-RunOnDiscreteGpu=true/d' ~/.local/share/applications/steam.desktop
