Silverblue 41 is great already! Two small issues (gdm and audio)

I’ve encountered two small issues on Silverblue 41 (I know it is not even beta yet):

-The gdm login screen is scaled to 125% since the rebase;
-When I log in, the audio does not work. I click on the mute/unmute key on the keyboard and everything works again.

Other than that, it works like a charm! Congratulations and thank you to everyone working on Silverblue! I’m sure this small issues will be resolved soon.

Are you using sof firmware?

Is anyone else having this problem?

I mean the package sof firmware

I’m not sure. I didn’t installed anything. How can I check that?
Thanks!

Looks like someone is having the same issue here:

The audio problem is being tracked upstream (pipewire):

i got a new dell precision 5490 - “Meteor Lake”. I also lost Audio also on F40. it is working, if i do a fresh install with kernel 6.8.5-300., after issuing rpm-ostree upgrade, kernel gets updated to 6.10.10.

yesterday i did rebase to f41 to see, if it will work there, but no, the same issue.

Today i tested a fresh installation with Workstation F41: It works. After that, i restored my F40 Silverblue and did again a rebase to F41… it seems, that the issue is fixed. As i don’t want to drive a beta, i revert back, thanks to ostree - thats pretty cool.

ah of course, i did also test it with F40 workstation, after dnf upgrading the same issue. Booting the old kernel fixed it. perhaps, it’s another issue on my dell. but i suggest you to give it another shot.

I had the same problem when rebasing Silverblue to 41, but the 125% affected any window. Then I went to the GNOME settings and found that in the Monitors sections the scale was set to 125%. Of course I did not do the change. I set it back to 100% and now everything looks normal.

Today’s Silverblue 41 image includes Pipewire fixes – do the update and see if it resolves your issue.

It did!

In my case I set to 100% on the Settings app, but the login screen did not change. I manage to set to 100% using the GDM Settings app.

Same for me actually: the login screen is bigger than usual. I don’t bother installing an app just for this…

Yeah, it was really bugging me… =)
