No notifications for certain apps on Kinoite

Hello!
Unfortunately some applications are not displaying any notifications on my machine. Some of these are:

  • Firefox (WhatsApp, Telegram, …)
  • Discord
  • MS Teams

I am mainly obtaining my applications from FlatHub - including the ones mentioned above. To clarify, some applications are able to display notifications e.g. Discover, error messages, system messages/errors, information regarding connections (wifi, bluetooth,…).

What can I do to debug this any further?

Added atomic-desktops

We really need to know what fedora release you are using (f39, f40, f41) and if it is fully updated.

Added 3rd-party-software, firefox, flatpak, kde-plasma and removed atomic-desktops

This shouldnt have any relevance to atomic desktops.

On Kinoite using the preinstalled Firefox (RPM) I can assure notifications work.

If random proprietary Flatpaks using Electron dont work, there is likely not much Fedora can do about that.

You may have messed up your KDE notification settings. Have a look in systemsettings, there are colored dots on every chapter where you made changes and you can reset them to default.

Fully updated system:
Operating System: Fedora Linux 40
KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.6.0
Qt Version: 6.7.2
Kernel Version: 6.10.11-200.fc40.x86_64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland

I reset notifications to defaults - I will look into flatpaks and no notifications. Thank you!

Also have a look if you changed any Flatpak settings

Thank you for leading me into a direction:
I googled around and found this post. It is mentioned to enable notifications - which apparently already was enabled. I then just re-enabled and restarted the applications where I was missing notifications - that did the trick.

A helpful resource to test browser notifications is through this page.
