Is there a way to fix totem video thumbnails not showing up in nautilus?

Hello,

I have been using Fedora 40 on gnome for a while now, I switch from X11 and Wayland how I feel and I noticed a problem in the video thumbnails of most of my files not loading in nautilus.
I also remember that some time ago I got a message that totem thumbnailer crashed. I only got it once and since then the thumbnails of most of my videos do not render.

I found this post that seems to be a way to fix this issue but I am wondering if there is a way to fix the totem thumbnailer itself without needing to look for and install some other thumbnailer and delete files used by totem.

The answer is, that Gnome not always has the same thumbnailer installed, so to remove the cached files would be the workaround so far. As long as nobody makes a proposal to solve the issue, there will be just the the workaround as solution :wink:

The ffmpegthumbnailer has always worked for me.
