Is it possible to adjust a keyboard layout on Fedora Silverblue?

Hello.

I am trying to adjust one of the US keyboard layouts in /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols (I would like to swap y and z and a few other characters) but since I use Silverblue, that directory is read only.

Is there something else I could do?

You can put modified configuration following the guide from libxkbcommon: User-configuration (namely it is possible to specify per-user configuration under $XDG_CONFIG_HOME or system-wide configuration under /etc.)

When swapping any arbitary key I always edit the /usr/share/X11/xkb/keycodes/evdev file.
