Make Informative Screenshots with Inkscape
Wanted to add some cool things to this Inkscape thread useful for those who are current Gnome Users and users of the cool Flameshot screenshot tool.
Currently Gnome and Flameshot have a difficult relationship. . . Flameshot breaks after every release. We still need to edit our Screenshots to make them informative and colorful !
So here goes a look into how I make do without Flameshot to make edits to my Screenshots.
- Clicking on the Import button on the Far Right Bar :
- Or pasting your screenshot onto Inkscape from the clipboard.
Which leads up to the Rectangle Tool :
- Along the bottom of the application is the Color Bar, Right Click to choose a Stroke color and Left Click for the Fill. We’ll do a Stroke only since we’re focused on making notes to the Screenshot :
- Now we’re ready to make some Rectangles ! Clicking and dragging to the desired effect will yield this lovely stroke. The Anchor Points ( square ) allow you to manipulate the Rectangle. the sphere’s allow for other functionality :
You can change the Orientation of the Rectangle by using the Selection Tool (S) and manipulating the new Anchor Points like so :
-
The Anchors now change in curvature to adjust orientation
-
You can then click File > Export To bring up the dialogue box to Export your work to a .png of the whole picture or even just a Selection.
-
There’s also a Import / Export button on the far right bar for easier use :
And there you go ! Now you can do the same with Sphere’s and other tools ! I like Arrows, so that’s next post.
