New printers are discoverable by default. It should just show up in your desktop environments printer settings.
It is not. the printer is currently on.
Drivers can be found here : https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/pixma-ts9520
Select your version and download. Try and see if it works.
tar -xf nameofdriversyoudownloaded.tar.gz
cd into the folder and
sudo bash install.sh
That model claims to support AirPrint and Mopria driverless protocols. Until Apple changes AirPrint, IPP should work in current Fedora versions once the printer is connected to your network. You should mention your Fedora spin and network type and whether you are able to use the printer with Apple or Windows systems (would tell us it is able to use your network).
Fedora Spin: MATE
Printer is usable with windows. we do not have apple equipment to test with
network type: wireless
I also have a 2nd printer (officejet 8020 which is detected with no problem)
this is where im at.
i moved the printer closer to the computer. powered on and connected
Nevermind. I didnt realise it was connected already. Printing and scanning is all set to go!
There is only 1 issue I am aware of that needs to be done with a new wireless printer.
The printer must be connected to the local LAN and that probably would require configuring the network settings in the printer control panel in order to connect to the AP.
I prefer to set a static IP for the printer even though it is connected via dhcp so I reserve the IP address for the printers MAC address in the AP configs once the printer is connected to the AP. You also could set a static IP on the printer but would need to be sure it is not in the range of addresses managed by the dhcp server.
Hope moving the printer isn’t too inconvenient. Areas with poor WiFi coverage can lead to annoying restrictions like “you can only print when standing on the 3rd or 4th step”.
