Firefox resets start page on every major update

Hi folks,

I’m using Fedora Silverblue 35 for x86_64. Every time I get a major update to Firefox (most recently, 94.x to 95.x, my startup page is reset to the Fedora start page (https://start.fedoraproject.org/).

I was using Firefox Sync and wondered if that could be resetting the homepage. However, I created a separate user account that did not sign in to Firefox Sync. The problem also occurred there.

I noticed this problem on Fedora 35 non-SilverBlue as well.

I do have some layered packages, but this problem has occurred before layering anything as well:

[dalton@fedora ~]$ rpm-ostree status
State: idle
Deployments:
● fedora:fedora/35/x86_64/silverblue
                   Version: 35.20211219.0 (2021-12-19T00:45:44Z)
                BaseCommit: 47dad8a5548b9dedc8f89217085e6fa4d0367429af3f5ccc3d2e0470098923bc
              GPGSignature: Valid signature by 787EA6AE1147EEE56C40B30CDB4639719867C58F
           LayeredPackages: gnome-boxes gnome-tweaks libvirt-daemon-config-network
                            qemu-user-binfmt qemu-user-static solaar virt-manager

I’m wondering if anyone else has noticed this, and if we might be able to find a solution?

@universalsuperbox Welcome to Ask Fedora! Please view the “Start here!” category

May want to take a look at 2020436 – Upgrading firefox package reverts home page setting from about:home/about:newtab to https://start.fedoraproject.org/ and add any additional information you feel is pertinent.

Thanks.
