Fedora & openSuSE (and others) Local London Meetup?

As some already noticed, we are about to organize the 3rd Local London Meetup. Until now, these meetups are Fedora-only.

However, in Germany, I experienced that openSuSE and Fedora communities are very close, and they are also overlapping. There is great exchange & reciprocal support, and you can find people from one community at events of the other.

I saw that in UK, there is a SuSE office, and I assume there are also openSuSE people around in UK/London.

So I was thinking if we might reach out to the openSuSE community and invite them to join our Local London Meetup, to make it a joint and neutral meetup.

I would be happy to reach out to them as I know a few people of openSuSE, although not in UK. However, if anyone is themselves part of the openSuSE community or knows openSuSE people from UK, feel free to let me know - or just let them know about this topic/idea

Of course this idea can be extended to other communities as well: We have a strong upstream and downstream, and many related and complementary communities that might have people in UK/London: from openSuSE & Arch Linux to libreOffice & RISC-V (just some examples)

Much that can result in useful interactions & exchange of ideas and knowledge! (And a lot of fun!)

Looking forward to your thoughts - feel free to discuss

As usual, feel free to also casually discuss thoughts & ideas in the Matrix UK channel

At DevConf.cz in June, OpenSuSE and Fedora booths were next to each other.

Fedora Hatch Meetup at DevConf.cz was chaired by Dan Čermák from OpenSuSE (he is also a Fedora contributor). You might want to ask him UK-based contributors of OpenSuSE if he’s aware.

p.s.) I have no capacity to help organizing events in the remaining months of 2024.
