Anyone else having weird app/program crashes after some of the most recent updates from Fedora? I usually update every few days but 2 of 3 computers I use have random apps not opening after updates, Spotify, Localsend and Kdenlive just to name a couple! It usually says ABRT Applet crashed? Looks like it’s back to Mint which is always rock steady which sucks cause I really do love KDE!
aprt always crashes for me. Since I started using Fedora 41. Other than that (and a recurring seemingly unsolvable issue with xdg-document service) everything seems fine on my end.
This problem is happening to me too on Fedora Sway Atomic 41 on my main PC that has a RX 550
but flatpaks are working fine on my Laptop that has the same system but has a Intel Integrated Graphics.
Yeah I’ve also been having a lot of flatpak apps crash after an update I did yesterday. Specifically applications packaged with flatpak. If I run the same application without flatpak, e.g. Firefox, it works fine.
Frustratingly, I can’t find a connection between any of the applications that are crashing. Most applications that were updated yesterday crash, but some (Vesktop for example) do not. Applications using the same runtime will also sometimes crash or not crash. Others still, such as Pixelorama, don’t directly crash but instead will be nonfunctional and have an entirely black screen.
I don’t know what’s going on and I don’t know how to fix it either. If anyone can share any information, it’d be welcome.
Additionally, ABRT-Applet is just front-end for a RHEL created tool which tracks application crashes and provides backtraces. That’s just the way Fedora informs you that “Something crashed!”
A bunch of updates just came thru that seemed to fix it and I noticed one package was downgraded maybe they caught their error’s?
flatpak updates or dnf updates?
Well I just updated flatpak and there’s a bunch of runtimes that seem to have been updates. Hopefully after a reboot it will work.
I am in the same boat, using Radeon RX550 too. Both Brave and Firefox flatpaks will not launch with Kinoite unless started with -disable-gpu switch. Looks like Kernel issue.
Funny that an application for crash tracking is crashing itself.
If it’s only concerning Flatpaks from the flathub
remote, the issue might be the one described in this thread.
