Fedora 41 KDE Slow Wake and After A while Black Screen post-Sleep

Hello Fedorans,

I switched to Fedora 41 KDE from OpenSuse Leap 15.6 KDE and I really loved the speed, stability and Wayland freshness. But a little annoying thing breaks my pleasure that’s in the title.

I was booting my OS with Leap faster and no slow waking up issue moreover after 20-30 times of sleep-wake cycle that black screen, no response on Leap 15.6. Some advice around that issues like Bluetooh disabling what I tried already but this slow wake up and black screen after that 20-30 cycle still persist.

I do not use NVIDIA gpu but AMD with the processor.

Hi there.

Is there a reason you’re using the generic nouveau drivers for your nVidia GPU? If not, have a look at the instructions to install the proprietary drivers from RPM Fusion.

You can try rolling back to 6.12.4 or you could also try setting the KDE power profile to performance.

hi Mike, yeah there is a valid reason why I do not prefer to use NVIDIA GPU. As far as I know NVIDIA cards are problematic with KDE and some kernel updates. Read several issue reports about that KDE + NVIDIA combinations so I don’t use it.

I would like to use latest tech in stable but without rolling back. I might use Tumbleweed or Arch however they are rolling distros and GB sized updates sicks me additon to system issues.

Weirdly this worked for me by disabling the “wayland windowing system” instead of enabling. It was already enabled then I disabled and after that no more 20-30 sleep-wake cycle black screen issue.

Only that 7-8 seconds black screen till login screen still persists. Any advice to get login screen instantly?
