Hi guys first post anyone give thoughts on why I get a blackscreen for a few seconds maybe a few times a day sometimes more often than all is well!? Very odd coming from Linux Mint so Fedora is a little different for me never had this issue before!
New install of F40 KDE Wayland - AMD Gfx card!
Hi R H and welcome,
There’s a chance it is related to AMD driver issues that are currently plaguing kernel 6.10. They cause the gpu to reset which results in the black screens you experience. In more severe cases they can hang the entire system.
You may try booting into kernel 6.9 for a bit (if you have it) and see if the problem persists there.
There are fixes on the way but they may not arrive before kernel 6.11.
OK thanks I reverted back to 6.8 as it was already installed will see how that goes!
Update problem persists with 6.8 Kernal!
That’s a pity R H, perhaps there are entries in the system log that may provide clues about what happens when these blackouts occur? You can scroll through the log in a terminal using this command:
$ journalctl --since=today
Any of this stick out to anyone its all greek to me!? Lol

You would have to scroll to around the time when the hiccups occurred (using the arrow keys), since it shows the system logs from the entire day. So if for example the screen started to go black around 21:00, you may be able to see some errors in the log just around that time.
OK thanks but I dont see a time stamp!
Each line in the log starts with a timestamp, for instance in the part that you pasted in your previous comment:
Aug 19 00:37:00
So you first started your computer last night at that time.
But each line starts with 00:37:00 thats whats confusing me? Lol
When the computer starts a lot of things happen very fast, but if you scroll down the log further you will notice that the time changes.
