Since few weeks my laptop hangs when trying to boot from the hard disk. I have a Thinkpad P15 Gen. 1, previously I had FC 42 with various kernel (up to 6.16.7), and suddenly it stopped booting from the HD. I then made a live USB image of FC 43 beta and it booted, so I decided to install it on the HD. I supposed that the problem could have been solved with the new kernel of 6.17.0. I also updated the BIOS to he latest one from July 25th, but the problem persists: I can boot from the live USB image but not from the HD.
I eventually solved the problem by adding “nomodeset plymouth.enable=0” in grub initialization.
I had also an issue with the installation of FC43. My laptop is a Dell Latitude E5470.
It was the same with FC42. I checked my bios which was ok but there was something left on the harddrive. So I complete wiped the harddrive and then it worked like a charm.
I’m impressed by FC43 because all the issues I had on FC42 (mostly driver related) work out of the box (audio and camera) so that is major improvement
