I think I remember being able to navigate easily to the root folder on F40, but now can see no way to access it in Files. Not sure if my user status has changed, or it’s been removed.
Seems like at least one other person has reported that. You can press CTRL+l, type in /
into the address bar, then bookmark it.

That’s helpful, thanks. I think I used to have a hard drive entry in the sidebar, like Local or something. Used it all the time and now can’t remember at all, so annoying.
EDIT: ‘Other Locations’ was the sidebar entry in F40 and earlier. Why’s that gone?
GNOME Disks > Select Disk/Volume > > Edit Mount Options… > Show in user interface
Added nautilus
I’ve done this and now I’m not sure how to remove it. There is an “unmount” option, but it feels weird to unmount the root directory… Maybe it will be fine, I’m a noob at this. Is it safe to do so? Also, now when I go back to Disks > Edit mount options the “Show in user interface” is unchecked… Help please! Do I just unmount it then?
Interesting that GNOME Disk doesn’t consistently provide the option to remove the mount option that it is able add.
You can always edit the /etc/fstab
for the appropriate mount to remove ,x-gvfs-show
from the mount options. Of course, always make a backup of the file in case something goes wrong
Thank you Linh. It worked
